About Me

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him Forever!

My name is Nelson but most at my parish call me James (my Chrismation name).  I hope to bear the works of my Faith by posting reflections (ramblings) and other information about the Greek-Catholic Church, my life as a laymen in the Ruthenian (Byzantine)  Catholic Church, and from time to time Ron Paul stuff.

In my non-blog life I am a museum professional.

In a reply to your post on Aug. 24, you quoted Patriarch Gregory III. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful quotation.

    Slava Isusu Christu!

Very glad to discover your site — and grateful for your mention of my article in yesterday’s First Things, “Putinism And The Ukrainian Catholic Church.” Thanks so much!

I noticed also that the Nicene Creed is feature of the site and wondered then if you’ve seen this:

I suspect you’ll be familiar with most, if not all, the participants in this film.

Thank you again. And may your ministry through this site continue to bear fruit!

  4. Hello and greetings in Christ Jesus!

I have placed your blog site on my blog list at http://www.failedhermit.blogspot.com

I am writing to inquire if you know of any Byzantine Catholic prison ministries. I am beginning my own prison ministry now but as a relative newcomer to the Ukrainian Catholic Church I do not know if there are such ministries available. If you can make any suggestions, I would much appreciate the help.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Ken Craven

  6. I applaud your efforts. My grandmother (Pani Elizabeth) had a brother, Daniel Bachinsky. He was the young priest who was with Bishop Theodore when they were all attacked. He was badly beaten and some say mistaken for the bishop, since at that time, the bishop was beardless. He was in the same hospital room and witnessed his assassination, in one of the few times that he was concious. Before this happened, Bishop Theodore had requested communion from the dean of the area, Fr. Daniel’s father, also Fr. Daniel, who was my great grandfather. Little did he know then that this would be the last Holy Eucharist the bishop would received. Fr. Daniel the elder and his son both suffered under the brutal treatment of the communists, with my great grandfather dying in prison. As an ordained deacon in the Byzantine Catholic Church, if I ever think that the diakonia, the work for God is too hard, I simply think of men like this and it puts it all into perspective. Glory to Jesus Christ! Father Deacon Gregory Loya, Eparchy of Parma, OH, USA.
